A capacitive touch screen is an all-glass sensor made by coating tin antimony oxide (TAO) on the surface of the glass substrate, for which the human body's innate capacitance can be used. It enables smooth operation in almost any kind of environment and even amid poor operating conditions. Capacitive touch screens are not affected by outside elements and exhibit high clarity. Because of such features, capacitive touch screens are widely use in applications such as outdoor kiosks, industrial environments, guide systems, POS, etc.
Its structure and operating principles are as follows.
As shown above, it is composed of one sheet of glass substrate without using any top layer. It also features higher light transmittance and better surface durability. But since it does not react to gloved hands or nonconductive materials, limited input devices like the fingers must be adopted. An electrode pattern is printed along the edge on the conductive layer. The glass overcoat is also fused over the conductive coating to protect and seal the sensor.
Advantages of INO CT
- High sensitivity-slight touches can be easily detected
- Good durability with its special metal coating
- Long life (100 million touches)
- Great endurance in tough environments of weather, contaminants, or liquid Excellent light transmittance
